B eacon Dance exists as a laboratory environment for experimentation and discovery in which artists may explore new ways in which dance, art, and performance can communicate contemporary themes and ideas relevant to our daily lives.  Beacon Dance is organized around the basic tenet that dance is everywhere and that there is dance in everyone.  Our mission is to help all people participate in the art of dance by illuminating the dance that continually surrounds us and by assisting all people in recognizing the dancer/creator within themselves.

We believe that the arts should spiritually and soulfully enrich lives. The arts enhance us through many means: by questioning society's general values; by altering people's perspectives, and by providing creative opportunity and empowerment to members of the society. Or they can enrich by simply providing entertainment.  But most importantly, the arts deepen our lives only if we allow ourselves to participate in, even if by simply viewing, the arts.  We hope to create an opportunity for inner reflection on the human condition.  Our society is made up of individuals with their own wants and needs, and Beacon believes that we all deserve respect as individuals.

Beacon Dance strives to enrich our community through our programming.  We wish to encourage our community to embrace the arts, dance in particular.  As we seek to erase the notion of competition from dance, we hope that our community may see and experience dance less judgmentally and more viscerally.  In essence, we are attempting to create a new paradigm for a dance organization that is based on inclusion, acceptance, and the development of one's creative abilities, leaving aside all elements of hierarchy.

The main goal of Beacon Dance is simple: to incorporate and integrate art, and dance in particular, into the everyday lives of the people in our community.
