Breaking New Ground:
New Dance at The Decatur Arts Festival 2016

Co-presented with The Decatur Arts Festival & CORE
Decatur Recreation Center Dance Studio
& Decatur Square

The New Dance Festival continues to expand this year, as we return to the Decatur Recreation Center at 231 Sycamore St., in Downtown Decatur, as well as the addition of two presentations on the Decatur Square. Classes and Performances during the day will take place in the Dance Studio. And Dance for Film screenings will take place on Friday evening from 5:00-10:00 PM and Saturday evening from 9:00-11:00 PM on the Decatur Square. Programming will include learning opportunities in addition to our entertaining and thought-provoking performances.

EnCORE Dance for Film Festival 5:00-10:00 PM

A social gathering for the arts and celebration of Dance made for the Silver Screen co-presented by CORE! EnCORE brings together a collection of 47 original dance works for screen, performed, choreographed and directed by local artists as well as their regional, national and international peers. Doors open at 4:45 pm. First screening begins at 5pm and will be ongoing throughout the Decatur ART Walk until 10pm. There will be a dedicated Block of films to Atlanta and Houston Filmmakers starting at 7pm. Be our guest. Be a part of the audience, grab a chair and enjoy watching what our local filmmakers and international counterparts are up to!

Dance for Film on the Square - 9:00-11:00 PM 5:00-10:00 PM

Breen's Alley (between CORE Offices and CORE Studios), Decatur Square

The Dance for Film performance will consist of 8 dance films in a program that repeats once. Most works are in the 5-6 minute length, and feature local and international artists.
